In many ways Nelson is perfect for a student. Students can cook light lunches in the school, or eat sandwiches on the church steps just outside the school. After school our students can study a little, visit the library or go on a school activity or walk to a friend's house. The Maitai River, the waterfront, Grampian walkways and others are a 20 minutes walk or less than 10 minutes on a bike. Long term students often get inner city flats or apartments. For those students who study at Nelson Marlborough Institute of Technology (NMIT), Nelson English Centre is on the same street less than one kilometre away. Because we are the only private English school in Nelson, there are many 'friends of the school' who recognise and help our students.
